6th Annual Jewell and Carl Emswiller Interprofessional Symposium

VCU School of Dentistry Event

Life expectancy varies by as much 15 years depending on social determinants of health. How can the interprofessional team help close that gap? The Sixth Annual Emswiller Interprofessional Symposium: Collaborating to Close Gap will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center in Glen Allen, VA. The keynote speaker, Danny Avula, M.D., M.P.H., Director of Richmond City Health Department, will explore the value of a social determinants lens for care providers and health systems seeking to make a greater impact on long-term individual, family, and community health outcomes. In addition, Dr. Avula will offer a public health perspective on the importance of interdisciplinary care provision. Professionals and students from the fields of Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Social Work are invited to attend the Symposium. The Symposium is designed for anyone with an interest in increasing and improving interprofessional practice, and those who like to bridge traditional boundaries.
