We need a detail oriented, meticulous person with math and science skills with knowledge about dentistry and dental coding. This person will help our patients figure out accurate financial estimates for treatment in the constantly evolving world of dental insurance.     Description: Part Time Dental Hygienist Our dental practice has been serving families throughout the Goochland, Western Henrico, and Richmond area for ten years. In November 2011 we relocated to a state-of-the-art facility using digital technology for radiographs, intra-oral photography, and have a chartless practice. We have a goal to serve one person from every nation on earth and you must enjoy working with people of different cultures! Our philosophy is to help our patients attain optimal dental health and in doing so, live healthier and happier lives. By nature, we are fairly conservative which means that we don't recommend unnecessary treatment to patients. . . but we do not hesitate in recommending treatment that will make a patient healthier. We practice "Golden Rule" dentistry: we do for our patient what we would expect to be done for ourselves and our families. We enjoy developing long-term relationships with our team and with our patients. Our focus is not on a "quick fix", but rather on helping someone obtain and maintain their dental health. We have a friendly and professional team that shares my total patient care oriented philosophy. Goochland Dentistry clinical protocol and hygiene duties are explained in detail on the Hygiene Expectations document. Schedule: Friday 6:30-12:15. There is potential this could develop into more hours in August 2017. Prerequisites for the position: The following description is considered to be the minimal requirements of the position. • Dental hygiene degree from an accredited dental hygiene program. • Current state license, which is to be displayed in the office when working. • Current CPR certification. • Meet current requirements to maintain state license. • Good verbal and written communication skills. • Good interpersonal relationship skills to get along with patients and the dental team. The main priority of this position is patient care and duties related to that care. A description of the minimum responsibilities of this position is: 1. Update medical history, blood pressure and charting at each visit. 2. Chart preliminary findings and bring them to the doctor's attention. 3. Expose and develop x-rays. 4. Provide dental education and oral hygiene instructions for patients. 5. Utilize an intraoral camera for all patient exams. 6. Provide prophylaxis and scaling and root planing services. 7. Apply pit and fissure sealants and fluoride treatments. 8. Clean and sterilize your treatment room. 9. Preappoint 100% of the recare patients. 10. Preappoint schedule to achieve the daily hygiene goal. 11. Assist the front desk with follow-up of overdue recare patients and reactivation of inactive patients. 12. Help with administrative work as time permits. 13. Participate in practice marketing programs. 14. Attendance at and participation in: • Daily huddles and staff meetings, •Practice management meetings as required and, •CE courses required by the doctor 15. Routine cleanup of any area of the office. Activities related to a full schedule are an important secondary duty of this position. Position details: • Pay for this position will be bi-weekly. • Hours are as set by the schedule, however some deviations may occur and will be identified prior. • Ending time is after cleanup from the last patient of the day. • Office uniforms and a neat professional appearance are required. Our uniform scrubs and a lab jacket will be provided to you. • As most of the work is performed within the dental treatment room, gloves, protective eyewear, and masks are required to prevent exposure to hazardous waste. Sick time, vacation, and holidays are as defined in the Benefits Package. As the RDH your focus is on promoting and encouraging patient health, however you will be asked to help with additional dental assisting roles (we are a team and we work together to get the job done). You must be flexible. Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at the discretion of the dentist as the nature and needs of the practice changes. Your evaluation as a hygienist will be based on service to the patients, meeting production goals, clinical skills, treatment acceptance, and team skills.
