With budget negotiations continuing, the VDA sent a letter this week urging conferees to include planning authorization funding for a new VCU School of Dentistry building in the final budget. Nearly 100 VCU dental students joined VDA member dentists to make the case in-person to lawmakers during Dental Days at the Capitol and the VDA Government Affairs team has continued to impress on lawmakers how important it is to replace the current aging facilities, which have more than $30 million in deferred maintenance costs, with a modern facility that will allow the school to better address Virginia's oral healthcare workforce needs.
