Virginia Teledentistry Field Report

teledentistry

The Virginia General Assembly passed legislation that offers important patient safeguards and defines the practice of teledentistry in the Commonwealth. That law went into effect July 1, 2020.

The VDA developed a guidance document to help inform dentists of your important rights and responsibilities and how this new law allows you to better protect your patients. This information is offered only for educational purposes.

As indicated in the guidance document, if you become aware of gross or negligent treatment by other dentists, complaints can and should be submitted to the Department of Health Professions. Details on how to do so are included in the document. As we continue to monitor and educate members on the impact of the recent teledentistry legislation, the VDA would like to know if and when you or one of your patients do take this action. Please complete the below form to let us know when a complaint has been filed.
