Sarah Friend

Virginia Dental Association Appoints New Editor

The Virginia Dental Association is proud to announce the appointment of Sarah R. Friend, DDS, FAGD (Galax), as the new Editor and Chief of its award-winning publication, the Virginia Dental Journal. Dr. Friend has been a frequent contributor to the Journal and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the esteemed publication. With a comprehensive education background, Dr. Friend completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with Magna Cum Laude honors at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2003. Recently, she furthered her education by undertaking a Forensic Dentistry Fellowship at Lincoln Memorial University College of Dental Medicine in Knoxville, TN.

Dr. Friend is currently an Associate Dentist at the private practice of Thomas W. Littrell, DDS, in Galax. In addition, Dr. Friend serves as a Forensic Odontology Consultant at the Western Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Roanoke. She has been a long-time member of the American Dental Association and Virginia Dental Association.  Dr. Friend is also a member of the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and American Society of Forensic Odontology. She has held leadership positions in the Southwest Virginia Dental Society and has served as a contributing editor to the Virginia Dental Journal since 2016.

The Virginia Dental Association is confident that Dr. Sarah Friend’s wealth of experience, commitment to excellence, and passion for advancing dentistry will contribute significantly to the Journal’s mission of disseminating high-quality, informative content to its readership.
