Our Turn To Serve

Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic provides free dental care for local veterans.

Recently the Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic held its fifth “Our Turn To Serve” clinic providing free dental care to low-income Virginia veterans. Few Americans realize our service men and women do not receive a dental benefit after they separate from active duty (except under certain conditions such as homelessness, 100% disability or prisoner of war status).  It is not unusual for a participating veteran to tell us the last time they saw a dentist was in Da Nang or in Germany.  The average participating veteran was over 60 years old. Veterans we treated had served our country during conflicts from WWII to Iraq.

The 37 veterans in attendance received dental hygiene care, restorative care/extractions and vision/hearing screenings valued at over $21,000.

Make plans to attend next year's event on Saturday, November 9, 2019.

Our Turn to Serve was made possible by the generosity of donors from throughout Virginia.
