Important Changes to Virginia’s Overtime Wage Act and IRS Mileage Reimbursement

On July 1, HB 1173 was enacted into law and it replaces many of the requirements that were part of the Virginia Overtime Wage Act (VOWA) that was enacted on July 1, 2021.  Many of the changes that were a part of the 2021 VOWA were inconsistent with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), but the new law makes the Virginia overtime wage requirements much closer to the Federal FLSA.  Learn more about the changes and how they could impact your dental practice.

In addition to the changes in Virginia’s Overtime Wage Act, on a national level, the IRS increased mileage reimbursement rates on July 1st to reflect the increasing cost of gasoline.  Learn more about the changes to be sure you are reimbursing for mileage accurately.
