Comment Period Open on Proposed Regulation Requiring Dental Assistants to Complete Annual Training in Infection Control

The VA Board of Dentistry has released proposed regulatory language that will require dental assistants to complete training in infection control.  The VDA and many VDA members have sent comments raising concerns during earlier stages of this regulatory process.

VDA President Dr. Scott Berman and CEO Ryan Dunn sent a letter to the Board of Dentistry this week reiterating the VDA’s opposition to this proposed legislation.

A new public comment period is currently open through March 4, 2022.  If you would like to submit comments on this proposed regulation, you have two options:

  1. Submit Comments through the online portal here.
  2. There also is an opportunity to provide verbal comments during an in-person public hearing in Richmond at 1:00 p.m. on February 18, 2022.
