The ADA Council on Dental Practice is encouraging dentists and their teams to acknowledge the essential contributions of their dental assistants during this year’s Dental Assistants Recognition Week, March 5-11.

Led by the American Dental Assistants Association,  the theme for 2023 is “The ♥ of Dental Offices Through Education, Commitment, & Safety,” reflecting the importance of dentistry's role in health care and the responsibilities of dental assistants, who are central in improving a clinic’s productivity and enhancing patient satisfaction.

Manny Chopra, D.M.D., chair of the ADA Council on Dental Practice, is reminding dentists to show gratitude for the work of their dental assistants. 

“Oral health care is delivered as a team,” he said. “Dental assistants are an integral part of quality patient care. I invite dental professionals to highlight the significant contributions of dental assistants throughout the year, and especially during Dental Assistants Recognition Week.”

Dental Assistants Recognition Week is held the first full week in March every year and creates a time for dentists to celebrate this critical member of their dental team. 

As a supporting organization, the ADA joins with the American Dental Assistants Association, Canadian Dental Assistants Association and Canadian Dental Association to jointly recognize the observance.
