VDA Urges Approval of Transparency Bill

HB1682 reaches its final step before becoming law.

At the VDA’s request, Delegate Lee Ware introduced HB1682, which would require transparency when insurance companies lease networks. VDA members began contacting their legislators early last fall asking that they support fairness and transparency in dental contracts and avoid surprises for patients.  When the bill was filed and began its way through the legislative process, members continued to be in touch with their legislators regarding the bill and around 100 member dentists and students advocated for the bill during the VDA’s annual Day on the Hill on January 18th

Due to the incredible efforts of VDA members on this bill, which started early and continues to carry through today as the 2019 General Assembly session comes to an end, HB1682 unanimously passed in both chambers and it is now on its way to the Governor.  The VDA has submitted a letter to the Governor asking for his approval and the bill should be on his desk this week.  View the letter by clicking HERE and be sure to thank your legislators for supporting this bill!
