ADA Third Party Payer Concierge™

The ADA’s Third Party Payer Concierge service assists dentists with insurance questions and concerns with third party payers. This service is for ADA/VDA member dentists only and can be accessed by calling 1-800-621-8099 or emailing dentalbenefits@ada.org.

The ADA also offers resources in their Dental Insurance Hub.  These resources have been developed to assist dentists and their teams in overcoming dental insurance obstacles so that they can focus on patient care.

Many dentists cite dental insurance as the source of one of their greatest frustrations. The VDA is collecting specific complaints from dental providers, which will be compiled into a report and shared with a workgroup that will be evaluating the need for changes regarding ethics and fairness in dental carrier business practices. We appreciate you taking the time to submit your grievance(s).

Virginia Bureau of Insurance (BOI)

We recommend that VDA members who need help appealing denied claims, resolving problems with insurers that are not responding, determining the type of benefits their patient has, etc., contact the Virginia Bureau of Insurance (BOI). The BOI is a helpful resource for dealing with state-registered insurance companies.  They cannot assist with questions relating to ERISA or self-funded plans.

Dental offices may also submit complaints to the BOI through the State Corporation Commission.  All complaints must be complete and properly filed. The complaint form may be accessed  here.  Prior to submission, please review the instructions in “Step 1” and ensure you understand the types of issues that may be submitted and the required supporting information.
