Governor Youngkin’s Dental Medicaid Budget Cuts – VDA Opposes

Governor Youngkin’s budget included a $2,000 annual limit on adult dental services for Medicaid members. For adults with advanced dental disease, this cap would result in patients delaying necessary dental care or forgoing dental care.

Senate Bill 99 (Stanley) VDA Opposes

Would eliminate the medical malpractice cap for cases in which the patient is less than 10 years of age in Virginia. Removing or modifying the medical malpractice cap in any way could significantly increase the cost of providing and receiving healthcare in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

House Bill 537 (Hamilton) – VDA Opposes

Requires the Board of Health to include a prohibition on fluoridation of water in its regulations governing waterworks and requires testing for fluoridation to be included in chemical monitoring requirements for waterworks.

House Bill 530 (Thornton) – VDA Supports

Establishes the procedure by which the Board of Dentistry shall fulfill the criminal background check requirement of the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact.
