PEER REVIEW (Patient Mediation)
The VDA offers Peer Review as a confidential, dentist-led dispute resolution process available to member dentists. Trained volunteer member dentists evaluate concerns between a patient and a treating dentist through a structured, professional, and non-litigious process. The goal is to reach a fair, ethical, and clinically informed resolution without immediately escalating to legal action or a Board of Dentistry complaint.
Confidential and Non-Public Process
This benefit helps protect a dentist’s reputation, time, finances, and emotional well-being, while upholding the responsibility to the patient to maintain the highest standards and professional integrity.
- Discussions and findings remain within the association.

- Protects the professional reputation of the dentist.

- Reviews focus on the standard of care and appropriateness of treatment.
